Grangemouth Enterprises Ltd is working in conjunction with Falkirk Council on a ground breaking training scheme for the area’s 16-19 year olds who are not in employment, education or training.
The organisation offers 13 week programmes which culminate in the trainees obtaining an SVQ level one in Waste Management or Recycling. They are also given the opportunity to work in a wide variety of roles within the organisation, from breaking down old white goods, through to joinery, office work, customer service and ICT technical skills. Accredited training is provided in health and safety, manual handling and electrical safety testing. The trainees leave with a substantial portfolio of recognised certificates and formal work references.
GEL’s programme has been phenomenally successful and trainees also receive a thorough grounding in work based, transferable skills and leave the programme with a strong work ethos and an understanding of the skills required to succeed.
All previous trainees from the GEL programme are now in full time employment, on further work placements or have been awarded college places. The destinations of previous youngsters are as diverse as beautician work and plumbing to technical engineers and dental technicians.
We welcome enquiries from local authorities and private enterprise. If you are interested in sending a cohort of youngsters through this scheme, please contact Janet Trevanion, Training Officer Email: Janet@Grangemouth-ent.org.uk Call: 01324 474 409 Or write to: Grangemouth Enterprises Ltd, 10 Dundas Street, Grangemouth, FK3 8BX
