Grangemouth Enterprises Ltd was founded in 1982 on the initiative of the
Grangemouth Council of Churches and Grangemouth Community Council. Mounting
concern about levels of unemployment and poverty in the Grangemouth area
resulted in a meeting of interested individuals from a wide range of disciplines
and experience. This group included members of the Clergy, Councillors and
members of the local
community. The meeting explored how they could contribute to the growing
need for local job creation initiatives. This group decided to set up an
organisation that would also be a registered charity and a company limited by
guarantee, to positively address the twin problems of unemployment and poverty.
They decided to call this organisation Grangemouth Enterprises Ltd.
